Earth system scientist — land, atmosphere & biosphere under a changing climate

Hi, I’m Christiana 👋

I’m a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Michigan State University. I study how the atmosphere, land surface, and terrestrial biosphere interact as a coupled system — and how that coupling shapes risk to agriculture, water resources, and ecosystems as the climate changes. I work across regional-to-continental Earth system models (RegCM4, WRF, WRF-Hydro, CLM), CMIP6/CORDEX-CORE ensembles, and machine learning, with a geographic focus spanning West Africa and the continental United States.

NoteOpen to opportunities

I’m seeking a permanent position where I can apply data analysis, Earth system modeling, and machine learning to problems with direct, measurable impact on livelihoods — across established and emerging sectors, from agriculture and water resources to climate risk and food security. I bring a decade of experience turning complex climate and geospatial data into decisions that matter, and I like building tools that make research usable well beyond the lab.

I’m a Nigerian citizen and I’m authorized to work in the United States.

What I’m working on

Vegetation–climate coupling & compound extremes

Building an independent research program connecting mechanistic Earth system modeling to concrete consequences for food systems, water resources, and ecosystem resilience.

Olusegun Python Toolkit

An offline, plug-and-play Python/Jupyter/ML environment (pandas, NumPy, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and more) built so members of the ASCENDE Network with limited internet access can complete climate-relevant coding exercises.
